Governor, GOP mostly agree on budget

Gov. Granholm and Republican legislative leaders have agreed on the state's spending plan for the fiscal year. Michigan 's K-12 public schools will get an increase of $175 per pupil, raising the minimum per pupil funding to $6,875. All 15 public universities will receive some sort of funding increase. Wayne State along with Northern Michigan University , which faced cuts under the Republican proposal, will be spared.
